PaxVelo, more formally known as the Patuxent Velo Cycling Club, is a not-for-profit cycling organization dedicated to fostering the sport of cycling and amateur cycling racing in the southern sections of Maryland. Club members range from beginners to competitive amateur racers and can be seen frequently riding the many scenic roads in the St. Mary's, Calvert, and Charles counties.
Who can be a member of PaxVelo?
Anyone can join the club by going into the Member Signup section and filling out the application and paying the annual membership dues.
Are there any responsibilities or commitments that are required of members?
Yes. Club members are required to be good stewards for the sport and represent the club in a positive light when out riding. Additionally, each member is required to assist with the ongoing events that the club sponsors in the area?
What are PaxVelo's club sponsored events?
The club sponsors two rides. The first ride is actually a series of events that occur every Tuesday night during daylight savings time, called the Tuesday Night Ride (TNR). The second is a single day event known as the St. Mary's Century (SMC). Information regarding the TNR can be found on the Local Rides page and the Event Calendar page. There are many opportunities throughout the season to help with TNR timing, recording results, and other logistical needs. The SMC is our fundraising event and will have it's own page. SMC opportunities range from registration, course marking, sag, rest stop hosting, and food procurement. Check the Volunteer page for specifics once you register.
How much does it cost to join PaxVelo?
Individual and Family membership are available in PaxVelo. The cost for Individual membership is currently $35. Family memberships cost $45 which covers all members of the Primary Member's immediate family.
